Obama Administration to Spend Millions on Obamacare Promotion
September 19, 2013
Earlier this year the Obama Administration awarded a $41 million public relations contract to the firm Weber Shandwick to enlist Americans to participate in the massive new Government program. Now, the website POLITICO has found that the Administration is “readying a multimillion-dollar onslaught of ads in a dozen red states.”
The Weber Shandwick contract runs through May 31, 2014, and is part of a larger HHS public education and outreach campaign that includes a website, www.healthcare.gov, consumer call centers and consumer counselors.
Specifically, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services CMS has reserved at least $12 million in airtime in: Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana and Michigan. The ads are slated to begin on September 30th, the day before enrollment programs for Obamacare legally open.
